Hi, we’re Erika and Mark
We’re a 40-something couple from the U.S. who packed up our lives and moved to Portugal in search of something different. We weren’t running away from life — we just wanted more freedom, less grind, and a version of life that felt better than waiting for “someday.”
Now we share what it really looks like to start over abroad. The exciting parts, the messy parts, and everything no one puts in the highlight reel. Bureaucracy, culture shifts, language struggles, unexpected wins, and the small everyday moments that make the leap worth it.
Living in Europe also opened the door to traveling more often, so we share that side too. We’re always chasing the good stuff — whether that’s an unforgettable splurge, a €3 local gem, or a destination that truly lives up to the hype.
Meet Erika
The one with the plan, the reservations, and probably a pastry in hand.
After nearly two decades in corporate tech, she decided she wanted more than meetings, reorgs, and waiting for vacation days. Now she’s building a life with more freedom, more travel, more tennis, and a lot better lunches. She’s happiest discovering local markets, chasing great food, and finding the kind of places you remember long after the trip ends.

Meet Mark
The laid-back explorer and “let’s just see where this road goes” half of the duo.
Always up for a bike ride, a hike, anything near the water, or a coffee at absolutely any hour, Mark keeps things adventurous and low-stress. A longtime real estate pro with years of experience in Seattle, he now brings that same eye for value and opportunity into real estate advising abroad. He’s also our head navigator, keeper of the meticulously pinned Google Maps, and somehow always knows the best route to take.
