Porto is famous for its colorful buildings, tiled churches, and riverfront views, but some of our favorite photo opportunities are hiding in plain sight. From giant recycled-animal sculptures and larger-than-life portraits to colorful murals and tile-covered walls, these are some of the most Instagrammable street art spots we’ve discovered around Porto.
1. Dom Quixote & Sancho Pança
Painted at the corner of Rua de Diogo Brandão and Rua de Miguel Bombarda, this was Porto’s first legal (though privately initiated, not city-commissioned) large-scale mural — a breakthrough moment that helped open the door to the street art scene the city has today. A sci-fi reimagining of Cervantes’ Quixote and Sancho, with Rocinante the horse given a futuristic twist.

2. The Butterfly’s Burden
Created by Porto-born artist Rafi die Erste, The Butterfly’s Burden was her first mural in her hometown. Inspired by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish’s book of the same name, the piece blends personal symbolism with themes of reflection, belonging, and identity. 🦋📖

3. Half Rabbit
One of Porto’s most iconic pieces of street art, Half Rabbit is constructed entirely from recycled materials and scrap metal. Created by Portuguese artist Bordalo II, the giant sculpture is both an impressive photo stop and a commentary on waste and sustainability.

4. Mural de cerâmica
One of Porto’s most unique art installations, Mural de Cerâmica is made from hundreds of ceramic pieces, including plates, bowls, tiles, and other everyday objects. The result is a colorful, textured work of art that’s become one of the city’s most photogenic hidden gems.

5. Mira by Daniel Eime
One of Porto’s most recognizable murals, Daniel Eime’s Mira is a massive portrait that showcases the artist’s signature stencil technique. The scale, detail, and emotion captured in the face make it impossible to walk past without stopping.

6. The CAT
Tucked along one of Porto’s most popular streets, Rua das Flores, this towering blue cat has become a favorite photo stop for visitors exploring the historic center. Its playful design stands out against the surrounding traditional architecture.

7. Mural da Restauração
This isn’t just one mural—it’s a rotating collection of street art that lines a walkway underneath the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal. The large panels are regularly updated with new works from different artists, so there’s always something new to discover.

8. Bfresh Hotel Bear Mural
One of Porto’s newer and more playful murals, this colorful artwork greets you on the way to the hotel’s padel court and pool.

9. An.fi.tri.ão by Frederico Draw
This striking mural by Frederico Draw showcases his signature black-and-white style and intricate linework. It’s definitely showing its age these days, but honestly, that’s part of the charm—it feels like a piece that’s grown alongside the city and is still worth stopping to admire.
